Microsoft Surface New Products 2021 2022

Microsoft recently announced a pair of interesting new additions to their Surface series of

devices, accompanying updated and upgraded versions of some old favourites within the

range. All of this new and revitalised hardware is designed to work harmoniously with the

newly released Windows 11 operating system to enhance the user experience.

New Surface Devices

Two new devices have been added to the range:

  • Surface Go 3
  • Surface Laptop Studio

Surface Go 3 (expected release date – 5 Oct 2021)

The new Surface Go 3 becomes Microsoft’s most portable 2-in-1 laptop in the Surface range.

Weighing slightly over 544 grams (entry model) it features a 10.5” display, 1080p cameras,

class leading studio microphones and Dolby audio, optimised for easily switching between

tablet and laptop modes.

Surface Laptop Studio (early 2022)

Microsoft confidently describe the Surface Laptop Studio as “the most powerful Surface

we’ve ever built” and a “powerhouse device”.

Surface Laptop Studio is powered by 11th Gen Intel® Core™ H35 processors and NVIDIA®

GeForce RTX™ GPUs. Its 14.4” PixelSense touchscreen and optional Surface Slim Pen 2,

along with the full keyboard ensure the Surface Laptop Pro is the ideal choice for creative

professionals, gamers and home users alike.

Updated Surface Devices
Three existing devices within the range have been updated and/or upgraded:

  • Surface Pro X
  • Surface Pro 8
  • Surface Duo 2

Surface Pro X (available immediately)
Windows 11, Wi-Fi-only and 64-bit emulation come as standard in the updated Surface Pro
X. Thin, light and bolstered by an all-day battery, the Surface Pro X runs many applications
(e.g. Teams and Office) optimised for the hugely successful on-board Microsoft SQ2 ARM
processor. The Surface Pro X makes a powerful and versatile, yet affordable 2-in-1 device
available to everyone.

Surface Pro 8 (expected release date – 4 Nov 2021)
Most powerful 2-in-1 on the market today? Twice as fast as the Pro 7? Lofty claims, backed
up by Surface Pro 8 deploying “11th Gen Intel® Core™ processors, two Thunderbolt 4 ports
and built on the Intel® Evo™ platform” to provide a series of performance gains and up to 16
hours of battery usage. Microsoft consider the updated Surface Pro 8 as a “significant leap
forward” in the 2-in-1 device range. The 13” display includes Dolby® Vision™ and Adaptive
Colour Technology to reduce eye fatigue and enhance the viewing experience. Users will
look and sound very professional with Surface Pro 8’s combination of 5MP front-facing and
10MP-4K rear-facing cameras alongside Dolby® Atmos™ sound and dual far-field Studio
Mics.

Surface Duo 2 (coming soon, though release date not yet confirmed)
Surface Duo 2 brings the wide-ranging capability of Microsoft 365 to that most portable of
devices – your smartphone! Dual-screen productivity and entertainment are at your
fingertips everywhere you go. Fully integrated Microsoft 365 and Teams, with inbuilt ability
to pair any number of applications. Unrivalled multitasking opportunities running any two
Android applications simultaneously and access to an ever-expanding range of apps
specifically designed for dual-screen operation. The Surface Duo 2 features an 8.3″
PixelSense Fusion display coupled with the Snapdragon® 888 5G Mobile Platform, a dynamic
triple-lens camera and stereo audio.
